After reading his post "Why I'm a social liberal democrat" I must admit that I have a respect for him. Being a moderate republican myself I have differing viewpoints to some of his writing, but am pleasantly surprised by the thoroughness of his ideas and writings. I would love the opportunity to both debate and compare ideas with him anytime. While I would generally call a social liberal democrat an opponent I would be honored and proud to call him a friend.

I first saw Phaedrus72 in action on a thread about evolution. A jaw dropping finale left me speechless. I never want to be on the wrong side of an argument with him unless I have my facts 100% down pat and probably not then.

I've only been on Newsvine a short time, but have already had several run-ins with Phaedrus72.

In that time, I have learned that Phaedrus72 will not take any crap from anyone, and demands every allegation or claim posted be backed up with sources and facts.

When arguing his own points, he always has his own facts and arguments in order, and has a ready rebuttal for nearly everything you can throw at him. You need to be quick on your toes and have all your ducks in a row if you're to stand any chance in a debate with Phaedrus72.

We need more of that not just on Newsvine, but everywhere in the world.

How can I consider my comments on others' columns anywhere near complete without a word here on Phaedru72's page?

Phaedrus72, the contributor formerly known as Dreamweavr72, is one of our earliest, and most colorful users. He was in on the ground floor. While many of us have had our skirmishes with him, myself included, I have to admit that it just wouldn't be the same around here without this fella. Whether he's mercilessly duking it out with Liberals, getting (sometimes unfairly) scrutinized by Yours Truly for reacting to another's provocation, reinventing himself or spinning a tale about aspirations to a new career in truck driving.... it's never a dull moment with our friend Phaedrus72. Perhaps no other user has portrayed themselves on such a personal and candid level. We can't fault you for being you, brother.
